Yoga is union. Literally.
The word yoga is of Sanskrit origin
with the verbal root “yuj”, meaning
“to yoke” or “to unite.” The goal of
yoga is liberation or freedom from
all that keeps us from experiencing
the profound union that exists within
us, and between us, the Divine, and
life all around us.
By engaging in the ancient and
systematic practice of yoga on the
mat, we explore a method designed
to help us let go of the stresses and strains of life, which cloud our perception of that already existing union. By stretching the body through asana (physical postures) and quieting the mind through pranayama (breath control) and meditation, we stimulate the latent potential within ourselves and experience a deep sense of peace, joy and connection. Ultimately, we tap into our internal wisdom, bringing us into deeper communion with the quiet voice within, which loves, guides and nurtures us. Our ordinary yoga mats become a sanctuary from which our practice of yoga, our practice of union, embraces every part of our lives.
