The Magic and Mystery of Gracetree...

  • Did you know that a Shaman ritual cleansed the energy of the home prior to its opening and identified special spiritual and energetic properties of our shala?

  • Some people have turned into the studio and expressed that they felt compelled by the presence of a little girl in front of the house as they were driving by calling out to them "You need yoga!"

  • A wolf pack once roamed and lived here, and they were very protective of the space.

  • The presence of the Holy Spirit has been witnessed and felt particularly in the Surya Studio.

  • An Intuitive friend declared that the home is placed on a high nodal point of energy.

  • Our Sadhana Labyrinth has it's own center of energy.

    • A snake shed its skin in the center

    • a raccoon worked its way to the center after being injured and passed-on there.

  • A pregnant mama squirrel used to observe our Prenatal Classes from the window of the Shanti Studio

  • We're told by our Intuitive friend that our sycamore tree, Grandmother Sycamore, shelters a spirit that is a guide and a protector not only of Gracetree but of the whole Olde West Chester area.

Gracetree's History + Lore

January 2009 -  Erin Tilling opened Practice the Flow Yoga Studio in the basement of the

Edward Jones building in Olde West Chester.

July 2009 - Pam Painter started teaching at Practice the Flow Yoga Studio and taught from July

to November 2009.

November 2009 - Erin's work is complete at Practice the Flow Yoga Studio and offers the

business to Pam.

January 2010 - Pam "reopened" the business as Gracetree Yoga Studio in the same location.

- Courtney King joined as the first yoga teacher in addition to Pam.

- Pam met Renee Groenemann at a yin yoga class and learned that Renee was the owner of Flow Yoga Therapy.

- Pam's vision for Gractree was to make it a lifestyle choice/destination that allows one to move with the rhythms of life into a healthier place.

- Renee began to add workshops to the studio schedule.

May 2010 - Pam and Renee formed what one could call a natural business partnership as the

co-owners of Gracetree.

-Pam and Renee began looking for a new "home" for Gracetree.

July 2010 - Gracetree was officially opened at its current location.

-Gracetree Yoga & Growth Studio grew to be a shala, i.e., a sanctuary--offering the community yoga and workshops for individuals and groups all designed to nurture the body, balance the mind, and liberate the soul.

-Gracetree is filled with wonderful, talented teachers and wellness practitioners.

July 2012 - Business ownership transitioned to Betsy Brothers, Janet Nash, Victoria Fleenor

and Dan Lansdown.

-After 2-1/2 years of growth and service, Renee and Pam made the decision to expand and continue their individual service at Gracetree while passing the torch of stewardship to 3 amazing women and 1 gentle man. They met and joined hearts to continue the vision for a new era at Gracetree.

October 2012 - Gracetree becomes an accredited Yoga Teacher Training School. A dream

comes to fruition as long-time friends, Pam and Katy Stahl create a 200-hour yoga teacher training program at Gracetree. The inaugural class included 11 dedicated students, many of whom continue to teach at Gracetree.

January 2013 - Victoria's and Dan's work as stewards of Gracetree is complete. Victoria

continues to teach at Gracetree as she plans to return to school, while  Dan directs his attentions to the art world.

- The wellness services grow and grow and grow...as the vision of Gracetree continues in it's abundance, wellness services expand and a diverse and symbiotic collective of talented healers gather at Gracetree.

January 2014 - The spirit and magic of Gracetree are stronger than ever as we grow our

family of teachers, healers, and students. Namaste.

-Janet, Pam and Vinny Ricciardi begin the yatra [a journey or pilgrimage] of 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training, an 18-month program.
